Hi Bikerchic
I've just come back from holiday in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
We went to the Hard Rock Cafe there a few times and we bought 7 T shirts. If we would have known we would have got what you wanted too.
By the way, don't worry about the thread being taken over from Mancunians trying to make out that Manchester is the best - I live near London, I work there twice a week and I go for shopping, sightseeing, museums, meals etc etc as often as I can and I can assure you that I have travelled all round the world and possibly with the exception of New York, there is no where that can touch good old London Town!

Why WHITBY is so important to us all!
by Gill inthe phrase is 'the truth is out there' and when we stumble across it by accident, it can't help but make a person wonder what else they never knew, and how pieces of the jigsaw gradually begin to fit together as we search for the 'truths of history'.. i love whitby.
whitby is a small town in the north yorkshire moors.
it sits on the coast with the magnificent ruins of whitby abbey dominating the sky line.

Gill, I know what you mean - after all those years of being told that all churches were part of Satans world, I realised that a lot of churches are very very beautiful, and even though I do not consider myself a christian now, I am in awe at the splendour and majesty of some of them, particularly the cathedrals.

Hi Gill.
You do make Whitby and Yorkshire sound a wonderful place and I shouldn't prejudge it just because it's 'oop north'.
We drove all the way from Essex to the Isle of Skye last year and some of the scenery in Scotland was absotlutely breathtaking. Also I have driven along the North antrim coastline in Northern Ireland and that is fantastic.
Yes, one day I will travel up to Yorkshire, to prove to myself why they call it 'Gods own country'.
Regards

The furthest North I have been for my job was Skegness - what an absolute dump!!
No wonder we southerners have preconceptions about the northerners - they were out in abundance.
I love the pretty, upmarket unspoilt villages in Kent mainly, also there are some lovely ones in Sussex and Essex too.
By the way, I recently visited Canterbury Cathedral - what a beautiful place steeped in so much history, and the centre of the good old Church of England too! I'm not a member by any means but I really love the English traditions of sleepy villages with a shop, a school, a cricket ground, a pub and a church. -

I must admit that even though I've been out of d troof for 4 years, when I hear something on the news that the Wittos could interpret as meaning the big A is near, I do get nervous.
But my wife Bubble just says that even if it were true there is no way she would want to live in paradise with all the morons from the cong.
I tend to agree with her. -

A real big welcome to this discussion board.
I am an ex JW - I was d'fed 4 years ago and have never looked back. Life is great!
It seems a shame to me that so many on here are still JW's, I suspect they want to get out but are finding the Organisation too controlling.
Anyway we all look forward to your comments. -

Absolutely definitely New York - but you will need more than 3 days.
Rome is a must - It's full of history and beautiful people, they certainly are the best dressers in the world.
London for it's fantastic blend of history and the ultra modern, it's got the best of everything including cuisine.
Cape Town - fantastic location and stunning views from Table Mountain and some fantastic drives to the winelands and the Cape peninsula. -

Boycotting Israel
by Crumpet ini see that quite a few are following the dreadful attacks in lebanon.
today i went swimming to cool off with mr c and we were discussing what ways we could make our disapproval and anger at israels actions felt, besides being human shields.
(mr c reckons i'm big enough to stop one missile, but would be pretty useless after that.

Virtually all the worlds diamonds go through Israel for one reason or another - don't boycott them because as every one knows diamonds are a girls best friend!
Anyway, Britain and America support Israels actions so should we boycott our own country? I think not.
Leave it to market forces. -

Which flavor of "Christendom" did you think was most demonized? (when a JW)
by Wasanelder Once ini used to feel it was the catholic religion because of all its rituals.
then i felt it was the latter day saints with all thier "personal testimony" and "prophet" doctrines.
finally, after reading about the watchtower's history i've settled on the view that they are all equal.. how did you feel about it when you were a witnoid?.

Yes I thought it was the Catholics who were the worst. It didn't help that I have some relatives from the Protestant side of Belfast - one day we went to a KH in Belfast and my grandmother told me that the sister and her family sitting in the front row were Catholics - I think she meant WERE Catholics!
I still dislike them but I have attended a very moving Catholic funeral.
